'Design Your Flying Donut'
A group of inspired geniuses young and old gathered over Easter in the mountains of Magaliesburg, South Africa to talk about outrageous subjects including immortality, time travel, past and future lives, science and consciousness of reality and other such out of the box topics. We ended the morning with deciding to design our flying donuts. Here they are for all to see.

BIOMIMICRY COURSES IN SOUTH AFRICA
Sept 2010 contact claire@geniuslab.co.za
Introduction
The Johannesburg Zoo and The Biomimicry Institute South Africa have joined forces to create Biomimizoo - learning beyond enclosures. This unique and innovative initiative will encourage you to experience the zoo as never before and to rediscover the curiosity and wonder of a seven year old. We invite you to join us at ( email Claire for exact Venue) on Wednesday 24th March 2010 for an iintroductory presentation on Biomimicry and the Biomimizoo project.
What is Biomimicry?
The essence of Biomimicry is founded in the fact that nature has had 3.8 billion years of research, development and design experience, as opposed to man’s 200,000. In that time Nature has evolved the world's ultimate design solutions, solutions that work, last and are appropriate. It’s studying a leafto invent a better solar cell or an electric eel to make a better battery.
The Biomimicry Institute (TBI)
Janine Benyus is the author of 6 books, including 'Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature'. She formed The Biomimicry Institute (TBI) for education and Biomimicry Guild for consulting to major organizations, such as Boeing, NASA, Nike and more. Shehas received several awards including the 2009 Champion of the Earth award in Science & Innovation from UNEP and has been honored as one of TIME's Heroes of the Environment.
Presented by Claire Janisch
Claire is soon to graduate from TBI’s inaugural 2-Year Cert. Program (Master’s equivalent) and currently heads up the biomimicry projects in South Africa. She has an MSc. Chem-Eng in the field of Environmental Process Engineering and over the last 10 years has worked as a sustainability consultant across Africa.Claire has given biomimicry presentations around South Africa and has completed innovative biomimicry research for the CSIR. In 2009 she organised the first Biomimicry course in South Africa facilitated by Janine Benyus and is planning another biomimicry course for Sep/Oct 2010.Shewill also be running biomimicry workshops for local schools and universities.Claire ultimately looks forward to the opportunity to apply Biomimicry practically to many of the challenges we face in South Africa.
