What is Environmental Process Engineering you may ask? Well, it’s a kind of holistic healing approach to pollution. Instead of dealing with waste & pollution after they have been generated, this methodology involves identifying the sources & causes and rethinking/redesigning the processes that generate the pollution in the first place. The cause is most often the thinking behind the original process design and management, and many solutions to minimising/avoiding waste & pollution are found through brainstorming innovations and new ways of thinking about the processes. Not only can pollution & waste be avoided, but resource use can be significantly reduced, and genius new designs can be developed achieving the same level of valuable service with minimum impact on the environment. It involves cross-disciplinary learning linking ecology and engineering and is one of the most exciting and creative areas in environmental engineering today. The environmental field is all about interconnections. That’s what ecology is all about. Engineers and designers can make connections to ecology too.
